Man held on charge of raping minor domestic help

SHILLONG, Jan 10: Police have arrested a 34-year-old man, Teiborlang Nongrum, for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl working as a domestic help at his residence in Mawlai.
According to police, the accused was arrested on January 5 and has since been remanded in judicial custody.
Investigations revealed that between June 23, 2025 and December 30, 2025, the accused allegedly repeatedly committed forcible sexual intercourse on the minor girl.
On January 1, the minor returned to her home after being dropped off by the accused’s wife. Upon reaching home, she narrated the entire incident to her mother, following which the matter was brought to the notice of the police.
A case has been registered at Mawlai PS under various sections of the POCSO Act and further inquiry is in progress.
