SHILLONG, Jan 10: Meghalaya has secured one Gold and two Silver honours at the prestigious SKOCH Awards for innovation, community-driven development and sustainable tourism, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma announced on Saturday.
The Gold Award was conferred on the Mushroom Development Centre at Upper Shillong for its role as a Shiitake production and training centre. The project was recognised for promoting high-value mushroom cultivation, skill development and income generation among local farmers.
Meghalaya also received two Silver Awards. The Malai Community and Rural Development Block was honoured for its community-led development initiatives that have strengthened grassroots governance and improved service delivery.
Another Silver Award went to the Directorate of Tourism’s Nongwar Tourism Project for advancing sustainable, community-based tourism while preserving local culture and natural heritage.
