USTM bags ‘University of the Year’ award, again

NONGPOH/SHILLONG, Jan 16: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has been conferred the prestigious Excellence Award ‘University of the Year 2025’ by Academic Insight at the Education Excellence Awards and Summit Ceremony held in Bengaluru.
The national-level ceremony saw the participation of nearly 200 eminent education leaders, academicians, policymakers and representatives from leading educational institutions across India.
During the event, the award was jointly received by USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque and Vice Chancellor Prof. GD Sharma, in recognition of the university’s consistent excellence and transformative contributions to higher education. Notably, this is the second straight year that USTM has received the award, following its recognition in 2024.
USTM’s recognition as a distinguished university was based on a comprehensive evaluation of multiple parameters, including the quality of education in science, technology and multidisciplinary domains. Special emphasis was placed on the University’s integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), sustainability initiatives, healthcare education, cutting-edge research projects, patents, research publications and innovation-driven impact.
The award jury also acknowledged USTM’s strong industry-academia partnerships.
Speaking on the occasion, the university leadership reaffirmed USTM’s dedication to academic excellence, research innovation and societal transformation, with a continued focus on empowering students through quality education and future-ready skills.
