Shillong Med College hosts workshop on India’s AI strategy for healthcare

SHILLONG, Jan 17: A regional multi-stakeholder convergence workshop on developing India’s Strategy for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare (SAHI) was held here on Saturday.
The workshop, which was hosted by Shillong Medical College under the aegis of the Health department, formed part of a national consultation process led by the National Health Authority (NHA), with technical support from the World Health Organization–South-East Asia Regional Office (WHO-SEARO).
The programme began with a welcome address by Health department Principal Secretary Sampath Kumar. Dr. Karthik Adapa, Regional Adviser, WHO-SEARO, set the context for the consultation, followed by a keynote address by Sunil Kumar Barnwal, Chief Executive Officer of the NHA.
An overview of the National AI Strategy for Healthcare was presented by NHA Director, Vikram Pagaria.
Participants representing the central and state governments, academia, healthcare institutions, industry and development partners took part in structured discussions, offering inputs on implementation priorities, resource needs and institutional responsibilities under the strategy.
