Two killed as car rams into electric pole in Telangana

Hyderabad, Jan 18 :Two youths were killed and another critically injured in a road accident in Telangana’s Jagtial district, police said.

The accident occurred near Hanumajipet when a car rammed into an electricity pole late Saturday night.

Two of the occupants died on the spot, while another sustained critical injury. The deceased have been identified as Sai Teja (22) and Navaneeth (22).

Another youth, Srujan (22), was injured and shifted to the hospital.

Three friends, who were students at an engineering college in Hyderabad, visited Jagital district to celebrate Sankranti at their native places.

When they were returning to Jagital after partying with some other friends near Porandla, the youth at the wheel lost control of the speeding vehicle and rammed it into the roadside electricity pole. Police suspect that the person driving the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol.

A police officer said two of the youth died before they could be shifted to the hospital.

The police registered a case and took up an investigation.

In another accident in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, 13 people were injured when a trolley auto-rickshaw overturned.

The accident occurred near Seeta Nagar in Palvancha mandal late Saturday night.

The injured were shifted to a hospital, where the condition of five of them was stated to be critical.

In another accident in Visakhapatnam in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, a newlywed woman died and her husband was injured. The accident occurred on NAD Flyover when the car in which they were travelling suffered tyre puncture.

The deceased was identified as Rama Himaji (27), who, along with her husband MVV Vinish, was returning to Visakhapatnam after offering prayers at Satyanarayana Swamy temple at Annavaram.

The couple had come to Visakhapatnam for Sankranti. Vinish works as a software engineer at a company in Hyderabad. They had married three months ago.
