SHILLONG, Jan 22: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) celebrated its Foundation Day on Thursday at the NIFT Shillong campus in Umsawli, marking 40 years of excellence in fashion education and design.
Daphiralin Kharjana, Managing Director, Meghalaya Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd., who attended the programme as the chief guest, extended her best wishes to NIFT for its continued growth.
Kharjana also highlighted the rich handloom and handicraft heritage of Meghalaya, underscoring its potential for collaboration with design institutions like NIFT.
As part of the celebrations, a tree plantation drive was organised in the presence of the chief guest and members of the NIFT fraternity.
The Foundation Day celebrations also included sports activities, a rangoli competition, cultural programmes and the inauguration of the ‘NIFT Timeline Wall’, which showcases the institute’s journey and milestones over the past four decades.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr Brijesh Deore, Director (I/c), NIFT, who conveyed his best wishes and reiterated the institute’s commitment to continued growth and excellence in the field of fashion education.
