Rabindranath Tagore Cultural Complex to be completed within next eight months

By Our Reporter

SHILLONG, Jan 25: Arts and Culture Minister Sanbor Shullai on Friday inspected the ongoing construction of the Rabindranath Tagore Cultural Complex at Rilbong, where PWD engineers assured that the project will be completed within the next eight months.
Shullai stated that the Rs 13.58 crore project, funded by the Union Ministry of Culture, will feature a museum, restaurant, children’s park, and an amphitheatre.
The Minister also inspected a new road under construction that will connect the locality with the main highway at Umshyrpi. Shullai noted that the road will ease traffic congestion, providing an alternative route for residents of eight localities under Laban Pyllun.
The foundation stone for the road was laid in 2021 with an allocation of over Rs 6 crore from the PWD. Shullai attributed the delay in completion to the time taken to acquire land from the Army for a bridge.
Work is now progressing rapidly, and the road is expected to be completed by March this year.
