TURA, Jan 29: The Niksamso Garo Community Organization (NGCO) has expressed unhappiness in the implementation of projects under the PMKSY (Soil Watershed) Scheme in Garo Hills.
The organization recently conducted a joint site inspection with officials of the Soil & Water Conservation Department, West Garo Hills, Tura.
According to the organization, the inspection was carried out in three blocks—Tikilkilla Block, Gambegre and Demdema Block.
“As per the inspection findings, the structure quality and implementation of action plans in West Garo Hills District and south west Garo hills were found to be satisfactory. However, in some other districts of the Garo Hills region, serious deficiencies were observed. In those districts, several structures have failed, some are damaged, and many do not meet the prescribed quality standards. Additionally, action plan units were not completed as per village-wise allocation and approved guidelines,” it claimed.
It urged the concerned departments to immediately rectify the missing action plans, poor workmanship, and damaged structures under the PMKSY Scheme.
