At least 4 dead, 1 injured in blast in EJH coal mine

KHLIEHRIAT, Feb 5 : A dynamite explosion occurring in a ‘coal mine’ at Thangskoo in East Jaintia Hills district this morning left at least 4 workers dead and one injured as confirmed by the Superintendent of Police Vikash Kumar who also said some of the injured had been shifted to Sutnga CHC and the Civil Hospital.

Meanwhile, the police are making efforts to trace and identify all those who have died and injured in the incident. More details will be shared once an official report is received.

Videos uploaded by social media accounts show the incident occurring at  Thangskoo. In one of the videos, a child and mother can be heard screaming, while a local warns others not to record, saying in the local language: “Ham Ring Video mo **” (meaning “Don’t shoot any videos”).
