SHILLONG, Feb 5: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday said the state government is examining demands for the creation of new civil sub-divisions across the state of Meghalaya.
Speaking to reporters, Sangma stated that the government would assess these requests based on administrative criteria, including population, geographical spread, accessibility, and convenience.
The chief minister acknowledged concerns raised by residents regarding the need for better governance through decentralised administration.
However, he stressed that any decision must be supported by a thorough assessment to ensure long-term administrative efficiency.
Sangma added that the government will consult with relevant departments and stakeholders before arriving at a final decision.
