Shillong, Feb 5: The Sports Authority of India (SAI), Sports Training Centre (STC), Shillong will conduct selection trials for the induction of talented sportspersons in Sepaktakraw under its residential scheme for boys for the 2026–27 session.
The trials will be held on February 19 and 20, 2026, at the NEHU Campus, Shillong, with the reporting time set for 8 am. Boys aged between 12 and 18 years as on February 1, 2026, will be eligible to appear for the selection process.According to the SAI, selection will be based on sports performance, potential and merit, taking into account achievements at international, national, state and district-level competitions, along with age-appropriate physical tests, skill assessments, aptitude and attitude towards the sport.Candidates must report with two recent passport-size photographs, Aadhaar card, an attested copy of date of birth certificate issued by a competent authority, and relevant sports achievement certificates. A medical fitness certificate from a recognised medical practitioner must also be produced at the time of the trials.SAI stated that relaxation in age limits and minimum achievement criteria may be considered for exceptionally talented players with strong future potential, based on expert assessment. Final admission will be confirmed only after proper age verification and medical examination.The selection trials will be conducted under the supervision of officials from SAI, STC, Shillong, with representatives from the Meghalaya Sepaktakraw Association also expected to be part of the selection committee.
