EAC investiture ceremony in Umroi tomorrow

SHILLONG, Feb 8: The Indian Army’s Eastern Command will hold its Investiture Ceremony at Umroi Military Station on Tuesday to honour personnel for acts of valour and distinguished service.
Lieutenant General Ram Chander Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Eastern Command, will present awards to 38 personnel. The honours include 19 Sena Medals (Gallantry), eight Sena Medals (Distinguished), two Yudh Seva Medals, one Bar to Vishisht Seva Medal, seven Vishisht Seva Medals, and one Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak. Additionally, 49 units will receive the GOC-in-C Eastern Command Unit Appreciation for outstanding performance.
Governor CH Vijayashankar will also attend the ceremony and interact with Veer Naaris and award recipients.
A cultural concert titled ‘Shaurya Sandhya’ will serve as a curtain-raiser on Monday. The event will feature traditional and contemporary performances, including Chenda Melam, Chau dance, and tribal dances, alongside sets by the Army Brass and Symphony bands and civilian groups like the Prince Group and Dancing Feet.
The ceremony will be attended by awardees’ families, senior military officers, veterans, and civil dignitaries to mark the occasion of dedicated service to the nation.
