Miscreants break open ATM, loot Rs 35 lakh

SHILLONG, Feb 8: Unidentified miscreants broke into a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM at Mylliembah village under the jurisdiction of Mawngap Police Station in the early hours of Sunday and decamped with Rs 35 lakh in cash.
Police said the burglary took place at around 2.30 am and was completed within seven minutes, indicating a well-planned operation.
A team from the Crime Scene Unit visited the site to collect forensic evidence. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the culprits. Police added that CCTV footage from the ATM and nearby areas is being examined, along with other technical evidence, as the investigation continues.
