NEW DELHI, Feb 10: French President Emmanuel Macron is set to embark on a three-day visit to India next week, during which he will participate in the AI Impact Summit and hold high-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi aimed at strengthening bilateral relations across key sectors, including trade, defence, and technology. The visit, scheduled to begin on February 17 in Mumbai, will mark a significant step in India-France relations.
Macron and Modi will jointly inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation in Mumbai, an initiative set to be celebrated throughout 2026 in both countries. The event will highlight collaborative efforts across sectors such as culture, trade, and technology, reflecting the commitment of both nations to fostering innovation-driven partnerships. During the visit, the two leaders are expected to hold comprehensive bilateral discussions in Mumbai.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), these talks will focus on enhancing cooperation under the Horizon 2047 Roadmap, which was unveiled following extensive discussions between Modi and Macron in Paris in July 2023. The roadmap lays out strategic priorities to deepen India-France engagement in trade, investment, innovation, and defence collaboration.
In addition to bilateral discussions, Modi and Macron are anticipated to explore regional and global issues of mutual interest, including security and economic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. Macron will then travel to New Delhi on February 19 to attend the AI Impact Summit, underscoring both countries’ shared commitment to advancing artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
The MEA emphasized that this visit builds on Prime Minister Modi’s earlier visit to France in February 2025, reflecting the strong mutual trust and depth of the India-France Strategic Partnership. It also signals both leaders’ intention to further solidify this partnership and drive collaborative initiatives across innovation, technology, and other priority sectors. (PTI)
