5-year-old girl dies after stray dogs attack children

GONDA(UP), Feb 14: A five-year-old girl died after a pack of stray dogs attacked four children who had stepped out of their homes in the morning in the Dhaneipur area here on Saturday.The incident occurred around 7 AM.The deceased, Muskan (5) had gone out along with her elder sister Mehak, (6) and two other children, when the dogs attacked them.While the other children managed to escape, Muskan was seriously injured in the attack,.On hearing their cries, residents rushed to the spot, following which the dogs fled. Subsequently, Muskan was taken to the CMC and later referred to the medical college, where doctors declared her dead. (PTI)

Six IPS officers transferred in poll-bound Bengal

KOLKATA, Feb 14: The West Bengal government on Saturday transferred six IPS officers ahead of the high-stakes Assembly polls, officials said.The reshuffle comes within a fortnight of two major IPS reshuffles carried out on January 30 and 31.According to the new notificitation, Rajeev Mishra has been appointed ADG and IGP, South Bengal, from his earlier post as ADG and IGP (Modernisation and Coordination).Laxmi Narayan Meena has been posted as ADG and IGP, CID, from Correctional Services.IGP (Murshidabad and Jangipur Range) Mukesh is the new IGP (Intelligence Branch), while DIG (Nadia and Ranaghat Range) Syed Waqar Raza has been posted as DIG (Murshidabad Range).Krishnanagar SP K Amarnath has been appointed as Jalpaiguri SP, while SP Jalpaiguri Y Raghuvanshi has been posted as SP Krishnanagar. Car driver dozes off, rams into truck; 5 killed

JAIPUR, Feb 14: Five people, including a woman, were killed in a road accident in Rajasthan’s Chaksu on Saturday morning after a car rammed into a trailer truck on the Kota-Jaipur National Highway (NH-52).The accident occurred when the car, coming from MP towards Jaipur, crashed into a trailer truck moving ahead, allegedly after the driver dozed off.The impact was so severe that four of the occupants, including a woman, died on the spot. A critically injured youth succumbed to injuries while being taken to a hospital.Following the accident, traffic movement on the national highway was disrupted for some time. (PTI)

Two construction workers die during inspection

VADODARA, Feb 14: Two workers died while inspecting a drainage chamber at an underground construction site in Gujarat’s Vadodara district on Saturday, police said.The fatalities occurred in the Ankhol area, they said.Police suspect the victims, Vipul Mangroliya (45) and Akshay Bhabhor (23), may have lost their lives due to drowning or exposure to toxic gases inside the chamber.“The exact cause of the death will be known once the post-mortem report arrives,” Police told PTI.While Mangroliya was a resident of Amreli, Bhabhor hailed from Dahod A case will be registered police said.
