CAIRO, Feb 15: Gaza’s Nasser Hospital has condemned Doctors Without Borders (MSF) for suspending most noncritical services, stating that civilian police were deployed to ensure staff and patient safety. MSF cited the presence of armed men as a serious threat, prompting the suspension, which occurred in January but was only recently announced. Nasser Hospital, one of the few large functioning hospitals in Gaza, treats hundreds daily, including war-wounded patients and Palestinian prisoners released under the October ceasefire.
The move comes amid continued violence, with at least 10 Palestinians killed Sunday in Israeli strikes in Khan Younis and Jabaliya refugee camp near the Yellow Line.
Meanwhile, two female Israeli soldiers were attacked by ultra-Orthodox protesters in Bnei Brak over military service laws, leading to arrests. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the attack but blamed an “extremist minority.”
Nasser Hospital stressed that MSF’s allegations are “factually incorrect” and warned the suspension threatens a vital civilian medical facility. (AP)
