JOWAI, Feb 17: An awareness programme on the Chief Minister’s CM-ASSURE scheme was organised by the District Horticulture Office, Jowai, in collaboration with the Horticulture Development Officer, Amlarem, on Tuesday.
The programme, attended by approximately 40 village heads, focused on the Chief Minister’s Scheme for Agricultural and Rural Support and Empowerment (CM-ASSURE). This initiative provides market support and price stabilisation for areca-nut and broomgrass farmers to prevent distress sales and ensure fair returns through structured procurement and registration.
Officials present included Trustful Phawa, Agriculture Development Officer (Market Intelligence); Pleaseme Shylla, Nodal Village Data Volunteer; Lakidon Khonglah, Horticulture Development Officer, Amlarem; MN Sangma, Horticulture Inspector; and Basin Development Farm Managers Ibankyntiew Dkhar and Patricia Shylla.
During the session, officials detailed eligibility requirements, registration procedures, and implementation timelines. Key discussions also addressed the geo-tagging of cultivation areas, commodity pricing, and the collection capacities for both farmers and aggregators. The roles and contact information of Village Data Volunteers were also shared to facilitate the process.
The village heads concluded the meeting by pledging their cooperation in disseminating the information and assisting with beneficiary registration at the village level.
