Temple broken into
A complaint was lodged that on February 10, miscreant(s) broke into Gurkha Thakurbari Radha Krishna Mandir at Upper Mawprem, Shillong, and stole iron grinder, wood grinder, cables, etc.
Two-wheelers stolen
Banshanbor Syiemlieh lodged a complaint that on February 11 morning, miscreant(s) stole his motorcycle (ML-05AE-1499) from Mawlai Mawtawar, Thapbalieh, Shillong.
Sardonyx Pasleiñ lodged a complaint that on February 9, around 9 pm, miscreant(s) stole his scooter (ML-11-8521) from Laitumkhrah, Shillong.
On February 11, 2026, miscreant(s) stole a motorcycle belonging to one Arun Kumar Hajong from a place near Police Reserve Hospital, Shillong.
Frickstone Marak lodged a complaint that on February 9, around 1 am, his scooter (ML-13A-8819) was found missing from Resubelpara, North Garo Hills.
Fake land docs
Arnessius Kharkongor lodged a complaint that between April 4, 2024, and February 13, 2025, he bought a plot of land for Rs 10 lakh from one Melinda Pathaw at Laitjem village in East Khasi Hills. However, on February 13, 2025, the complainant found that the land document received from the seller was fake.
Blank rounds fired
On the night of February 10, miscreants fired blank rounds, reportedly in an attempt to frighten the fishermen who were camping at the riverside in Phali Nohryngkin area, Mawryngkhong, preparing to participate in the ‘Nohjar’ Fishing festival in Shella, East Khasi Hills.
Car sale fraud
A female resident of a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that on January 21, 2026, she sold her vehicle to one Testbor Thabah for Rs 7.7 lakh, for which the buyer paid her through a cheque. However, the complainant could not encash the cheque in the bank, allegedly as the named individual stopped the payment. Later, the complainant learned that Testbor Thabah had sold the vehicle to another person in Tura, West Garo Hills, realising that had been cheated.
Illegal brick kilns
Range Officer of Hollaidanga Range in West Garo Hills lodged a complaint that on February 10, around 10 am, the Forest department along with the district administration conducted scheduled enforcement/demolition drive at Gomaijhora, Phulbari and Charbatapara in WGH and discovered unauthorised operations including establishment of brick kilns without Consent to Establish (CTE) or Consent to Operate (CTO) from the competent authority. The authorities also unearthed illegal mining of earth for bricks without mining plan/mining lease and illegal brick kilns at Gomaijhora, Phulbari Sector and Charbatapara. During inquiry, it was learnt that several individuals from Shilakandi, Gomaijhora, Shyamding and Charbatapara are involved in the illegal activities.
Unauthorised amount debited from account
A male resident of a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that on January 18, 2026, Rs 18,000 was debited from his bank account without his knowledge.
Robbery
Safikul Islam lodged a complaint on February 11 that four unidentified armed miscreants at knife point snatched the mobile phones and also robbed Rs 2.3 lakh from four persons, who were sent by him to purchase betel nuts from 8th Mile Bazar, Gambegre village, West Garo Hills.
Theft
Kenny Kharsyntiew lodged a complaint that on February 11 afternoon, miscreant(s) stole a laptop and other items total valued around Rs 45,000 from a vehicle (ML-05Y-7125) belonging to his wife which was located at a place under Laitumkhrah police station during the theft.
