Army recruitment

The Indian Army has invited online applications from unmarried male candidates in Meghalaya for recruitment as Agniveers for the 2027 cycle under the Agnipath Scheme. Registration is open until April 1, 2026. The selection process will be conducted in two phases. Phase I involves an online computer-based common entrance examination (CEE) at designated centers in the state. Phase II will consist of a recruitment rally for candidates who qualify on the CEE merit list. Interested candidates can register and verify their eligibility on the official website: www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.

Annual ritual

“Laiharaoba/Eekum-Eekaba” — an annual ritual celebration of Ibudhou Pakhangba-Ibendou of the seven clans (salais) of the Meitei/Meetei (Manipuris) — will be celebrated at Manipur Bhavan, Redland, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, from 6.30 am on February 22. The celebration will be organised by Ibudhou Pakhangba Thougal Lup (IPTL), Shillong, with the help of Sanamahi Temple Board (STB) Imphal, a cultural and religious organisation of the Meitei/Meetei indigenous faith.
