3 killed as two groups clash during wedding event

MUMBAI,Feb 19:Three persons were killed during a pre-wedding ceremony after two groups clashed over a minor dispute in Maharashtra’s Dhule district.Three persons have been arrested in connection with the incident that took place on Wednesday.The deceased were identified as Suresh Gosavi (50), Sahil Gosavi (35) and Devendra Pawar (36), he said.The accused and the victims got into a fight over a trivial issue during the ceremony.After murdering the victims, the accused persons, identified as Kantilal Gosavi (42), Jaswant Gosavi (36) and their driver, fled towards Gujarat in a Brezza car, police said. The official said police urged local residents to block a road on the Otabari ghat section and note down the vehicle’s registration number, the official said.Subsequently, cops intercepted the car and arrested the trio on the Gujarat-Navapur border. A small knife was recovered from them. All three accused hail from Songad in Gujarat. (PTI)

Man killed by friend for speaking loudly on phone

MUMBAI, Feb 19: A 39-year-old man was killed in south Mumbai allegedly by his friend following an argument over speaking loudly during a video call.Daily wage labourer Vipul Kamroti Karmakar (39) was speaking loudly to a girl on a video call, which irked Ibrahim Kalu Shaikh (19). The argument over speaking loudly on phone resulted in Shaikh banging Karmakar’s head on the pavement repeatedly. While Shaikh fled from the spot, Karmakar was rushed to JJ hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.Shaikh was arrested on Tuesday. (PTI)

‘Mentally unwell’ man kills parents, younger brother

BETUL (MP), Feb 19: A 25-year-old man allegedly bludgeoned his parents and younger brother to death on Thursday in MP’s Betul district, and left his 5-year-old nephew critically injured. Deepak Dhurve, who is mentally unwell as per neighbours, beat to death his father, mother, and brother. Deepak also attacked his 5-year-old nephew, whose condition is critical. Neighbours noticed something amiss as no one had come out of the house till afternoon. No one was answering the door either. When neighbours broke it down, they found Deepak sitting quietly near the three bodies as well as the carcass of a cat, which too may have been killed by him. Neighbours have told police Deepak was mentally unstable for the past several years in Nagpur. (PTI)

Farmer killed in suspected leopard attack

SURAT, Feb 19: A 71-year-old farmer was killed on Thursday by a wild animal, suspected to be a leopard, in Gujarat’s Surat district, a police official said.The farmer was working in his farm in Bodhan village of Mandvi taluka when the incident occurred around 1:45 pm, the official added.“A wild animal, suspected to be a leopard, attacked the farmer and inflicted severe injuries. He died on the spot. Police and a team under range forest officer H Vanda went to the site. An accidental death report has been registered,” the official said. (PTI)
