Police recover suspected heroin, nab duo in EJH

SHILLONG, Feb 24: In a late-night operation, police seized 204 grams of suspected heroin and arrested two persons during naka checking at the Umkiang Outpost in East Jaintia Hills district.
According to East Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police, Pankaj Rasgania, the interception took place at around 11:30 pm on Monday.
A black Alto K10, bearing the registration number AS 11 R 1523 and travelling from Silchar, was stopped for routine checking.
During a thorough search of the vehicle, police recovered 17 soap boxes containing suspected heroin, weighing approximately 204 grams. The contraband was seized following due legal procedures. The two occupants of the vehicle were immediately taken into custody.
They have been identified as Suhal Ahmed (20), son of Tajim Uddin, a resident of Tarapur, Kalain in Cachar district of Assam, and Aktar Hussain (37), son of (L) Abdul Galil Laskar, a resident of Kali Nagar, Shiv Narainpur in Cachar district of Assam.
