Shillong, Feb 27: Smit SC lifted the men’s title while Assam Rifles FT emerged champions in the women’s category as the 4th edition of the Assam Rifles Sentinels Cup Football Tournament concluded on Thursday.
In a closely fought men’s final, Smit SC overcame Assam Rifles FT with a display marked by cohesion and clinical finishing.
The women’s summit clash saw Assam Rifles FT produce a commanding performance to defeat Laitkor SC, drawing praise for their discipline and determination.
The tournament, held from February 17 to 27 across multiple venues in Shillong, featured teams from various football clubs in Meghalaya alongside sides representing Assam Rifles, the Indian Army and Meghalaya Police.
Winners in the men’s and women’s divisions received Rs 3 lakh each along with the prestigious Sentinels Cup trophy, while the runners-up were awarded Rs 2 lakh apiece.
