Marbisu, Cricket Smit register wins on Day 9 of District League T20

Shillong, Feb 28: Marbisu CC and Cricket Smit emerged victorious in their respective fixtures on Day 9 of the 5th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2026, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association.
In Match 17, Marbisu CC outclassed Sohra Combine by eight wickets in a one-sided contest. After winning the toss, Sohra Combine opted to bat but could only manage 114/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Jona Lyngdoh Nonglait anchored the innings with a steady 37 off 32 deliveries, while Hameki Susngi impressed with the ball, returning figures of 2/16 from his four overs to keep the total in check.
Chasing 115, Marbisu CC made light work of the target, reaching 118/2 in just 13.3 overs. Susngi capped off a fine all-round performance with a match-winning 77 off 44 balls, guiding his side home comfortably. Shanborlang Kharshiing claimed 1/8 in his solitary over. For his impactful contribution with both bat and ball, Susngi was named Player of the Match.
Match 18 produced a far tighter finish as Cricket Smit edged past Royal Challenger Mawsynram by five runs. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Royal Challenger restricted Cricket Smit to 134/7 in 20 overs. Bashaikupar Nongdhar top-scored with a brisk 28 off 14 balls, while Pynkhraw Jomati delivered an economical spell of 2/8 in two overs.
In reply, Royal Challenger Mawsynram fell short, finishing at 129/5 in their 20 overs. Richie Shangpliang led the chase with 46 off 39 deliveries, but disciplined bowling proved decisive. Pynkhrawbok Thabah starred with the ball, picking up 2/17 in his four overs to seal a narrow victory for Cricket Smit. Thabah’s decisive spell earned him the Player of the Match award.
