MUMBAI, March 3: Gold climbed for a fifth straight session on Tuesday amid escalating Middle East conflicts and rising energy prices, with MCX April gold futures up 2.53% to Rs 1,66,199 per 10 grams.
MCX May silver futures eased 0.9% to Rs 2,80,090 per kg.
Spot gold rose 0.8% to $5,360 an ounce, while US gold futures gained about 1%, and silver advanced 1.9% to $91.11.
Tensions followed US-Israel strikes on Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory attacks on oil and gas facilities, raising fears of supply disruption and lifting crude prices—US crude $72.23, Brent $79.2 per barrel.
The dollar index strengthened 0.19%, capping bullion gains. Gold has surged nearly 25% in 2026 amid safe-haven demand and Fed policy concerns. (IANS)
