Tura Christian College concludes youth parliament programme with academic and cultural competitions

Tura, March 4: Tura Christian College (TCC) successfully concluded its Youth Parliament Programme yesterday, Mar at the District Auditorium.

The final day of the event saw active participation from students, faculty, and distinguished guests. The programme was graced by prominent leaders, including Dr Wanweiroy Kharlukhi, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, as the Chief Guest and Malthus S. Sangma, MCS, Secretary, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, as the Guest of Honour.

The event was chaired by Uzziel S. Momin, Assistant Professor, Department of English, TCC. The programme began with an invocation prayer by Tarimshee A. Sangma, Assistant Professor, Department of Anthropology, followed by the welcome address by Tony Trabert C. Marak, President, GB of the TCC.

The event featured a series of competitions, with the Quiz and Extempore Speech Competitions being among the main highlights.

In the quiz competition, Don Bosco College (DBC) won the first position with 95 points followed by Tura Law College in second (80 points) and TCC bagging the 3rd position with 70 points (following a tie break with the Tura Government College).

In extempore, Hrithik Lugun of the DBC took first place while Denikra A Sangma from TCC took second with the third position going to Pratibha Hajong of ICFAI College.

The academic segment also included a special dance Item performed by TCC students, a special number by the TCC Students Choir, and additional cultural presentations. The competitions showcased the students’ academic excellence, creativity and leadership potential.

The Prize Distribution Ceremony was carried out by the guests who acknowledged the winners’ hard work and determination.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Noachi Xavier Ch. Sangma, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, TCC and a closing prayer by Rev. L.G. Momin, Christian Education Secretary, Krima IV.

The Youth Parliament Programme, successfully reflected Tura Christian College’s commitment to fostering academic growth, youth engagement and leadership development.
