24-year-old biker dies after falling into SWKH gorge

MAWKYRWAT, March 6: A 24-year-old man died on the spot after his motorcycle plunged into a 52-foot-deep gorge at Riat Twahraniang near Photjaud village in South West Khasi Hills.
The victim, identified as one Imanningstar Nongbsaw of Manad village, was reportedly returning from Mawkyrwat around 11 pm on March 3 when he lost control of his two-wheeler (ML10B0962).
The accident was discovered the following morning when children spotted the motorcycle in the gorge. The victim’s body was subsequently found nearby.
Police officials stated that the victim sustained grievous head injuries and confirmed that no foul play was suspected.
The body was released to the family for last rites after they were granted an exemption from a post-mortem examination.
