Streaming service Prime Video on Thursday announced an exciting slate of upcoming content, including the fifth season of its popular rural comedy-drama Panchayat, second seasons of Sandeep Bhaiya and Gram Chikitsalay, and the new coming-of-age rom-com Don’t Be Shy produced by Alia Bhatt and her sister Shaheen Bhatt under Eternal Sunshine Productions.
In Panchayat season five, engineering graduate-turned-panchayat secretary Abhishek navigates a hostile work environment under vengeful leadership while preparing for his MBA ambitions in Phulera.
The show will return with its core cast, including Jitendra Kumar, Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta, Faisal Malik, and Chandan Roy.
Gram Chikitsalay season two follows idealistic Dr. Prabhat as he confronts corruption and lack of resources at the Primary Health Centre, starring Amol Parashar, Vinay Pathak, and Dinesh Lal Yadav.
Sandeep Bhaiya continues the story of civil services aspirant Sandeep Ohlan, now grappling with past heartbreak while mentoring promising candidates, with Sunny Hinduja reprising his role.
Prime Video is also bringing back Sapne Vs Everyone season two, exploring the journeys of two ambitious men navigating Mumbai’s film industry and real estate world.
Alia Bhatt’s Don’t Be Shy marks the directorial debut of Sreeti Mukerji and follows 20-year-old Shyamili “Shy” Das as her carefully planned life spirals out of control.
Sehaj Kaur Maini has contributed dialogues and additional screenplay, and the cast will be announced soon. The film is co-produced by Chalkboard Entertainment and is set to stream exclusively on Prime Video.
These launches reflect Prime Video’s focus on diverse storytelling, from rural narratives and coming-of-age journeys to comedy-dramas, highlighting fresh talent and socially engaging content. Release dates for all shows are yet to be announced. (PTI)
