Hrithik Roshan and Ryan Gosling recently discussed the idea of a shared Bollywood-Hollywood alien universe, combining characters from Koi Mil Gaya and Project Hail Mary.
The virtual conversation, shared by Sony Pictures India on social media, highlighted the actors’ playful camaraderie and their on-screen alien friendships.
Roshan called their connection “a very exclusive professional space alien friendship club,” noting that both have close bonds with lovable extraterrestrials—Jaadu in Koi Mil Gaya and Rocky in Project Hail Mary.”
Roshan, a fan of Andy Weir’s novel Project Hail Mary, spoke with Gosling about sci-fi, aliens, and the emotional depth of companionship.
He suggested the two alien characters could potentially meet in a crossover or sequel. Gosling responded enthusiastically, proposing that Jaadu could bring Rocky to India for a meet-up, with Roshan pitching Mumbai’s Churchgate and Bandra as ideal locations.
Gosling described the idea as “the start of something,” emphasizing the fun potential for blending Bollywood and Hollywood sci-fi.
Koi Mil Gaya, released in 2003, features Roshan as a bullied, specially-abled boy who befriends an alien, gaining superpowers that transform his life.
In contrast, Project Hail Mary stars Gosling as Ryland Grace, a former molecular biologist sent to deep space to save Earth as the Sun deteriorates.
Grace encounters Rocky, an alien on a similar mission, and their interactions drive the heart of the story.
The chat revealed the actors’ mutual admiration and creative curiosity, with Roshan excited to explore India as a setting for alien adventures and Gosling intrigued by the idea.
Project Hail Mary, co-starring Sandra Huller, James Ortiz, Ken Leung, and Lionel Boyce, releases in India on March 26 in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
The conversation hints at a playful cultural and cinematic fusion, blending iconic alien characters from both Bollywood and Hollywood. (PTI)
