SHILLONG, March 25: The NSS unit and the Department of Political Science, St Mary’s College, on Wednesday organised a one-day legal awareness programme titled “Breaking Barriers: Legal Literacy for Women’s Empowerment.”
Resource person Dr. Arpita Singh spoke on crimes against women and their impact on society. Another speaker, Yophika Grace Shadap from Shillong Law College, discussed the new legal framework under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and the rising threat of cybercrime, including fraud and extortion.
