SHILLONG, March 25: Family members of candidates who faced rejection during the recent police recruitment by the Central Recruitment Board (CRB) have demanded a fresh medical examination, alleging unfair disqualification during the selection process.
A group of family members on Wednesday visited the office of the Director General of Police (DGP) and met Dalton P. Marak, Chairman of the CRB, along with other senior police officials, to raise their grievances and seek fresh medical tests for the rejected candidates.
The families alleged that several candidates were declared medically unfit—particularly due to eyesight-related issues—without being given a fair opportunity for re-evaluation.
They urged the authorities to allow a second medical examination, as is permitted in other recruitment processes.
According to one of the family members, the results of the recruitment examination were declared on February 25, 2026, after which results of some candidates were kept on hold pending further medical checks, police verification, and scrutiny of documents.
He said the candidates were later given seven days to report to the CRB office for clarification regarding their status. However, confusion arose after reports on March 24 indicated that the candidates had been called again to appear on March 25.
Acting on this information, the candidates reported to the CRB office, only to be informed that they had been rejected from the recruitment process and were no longer eligible.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the outcome, the families said they approached the DGP’s office to seek clarity and justice. During the meeting, they questioned why no provision was made for a second round of medical examination.
The families maintained that denying a second medical assessment was unfair and appealed to the authorities to reconsider their decision. They urged that the affected candidates be allowed to undergo a fresh medical examination to ensure transparency and fairness in the recruitment process.
