State official to manage India U-18 sides

Shillong, March 26: In a significant boost for Meghalaya basketball, the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) has confirmed that the Indian U-18 men’s and women’s teams will compete in the FIBA U-18 Asia Cup – SABA Qualifiers 2026, scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka from May 6 to 10.
Alongside the announcement, BFI Secretary General Kulvinder Singh Gill revealed that Wanlambok Iawphniaw, Secretary of the Meghalaya Basketball Association, has been appointed as the team manager for both national sides during the tournament.The federation will cover all expenses related to his assignment, including travel, accommodation and other logistics. Iawphniaw has been requested to convey his acceptance at the earliest and report to the national coaching camp ahead of the championship.
