State coaches attend Yogasana training

Shillong, March 27: A contingent of State Certified Master Trainers from Meghalaya is currently in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, to take part in the 6th National Yogasana Sports Coaches’ Training Programme 2026–27, being held from March 24 to 30.
The participation forms part of the state’s ongoing preparations for the 39th National Games, scheduled to be hosted by Meghalaya in 2027. The programme is aimed at enhancing coaching standards and strengthening technical expertise in Yogasana as a competitive sport.
The Meghalaya team comprises His Suna from West Jaintia Hills, Evapynsuklin Thabah from East Khasi Hills, Maldalin Lyngkhoi from West Khasi Hills, and Babylon Lyngdoh and Birju Singh from Ri-Bhoi district.
Officials said the exposure is expected to equip the trainers with updated techniques and methodologies, which can be implemented at the grassroots level to develop athletes ahead of the National Games. The initiative is being supported by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya.
