Sanbor lays base for cultural centres
SHILLONG, March 28: South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai on Saturday laid the foundation stones for two cultural centres in the constituency, built at a total cost of over Rs 4 crore. The first centre is being constructed at Kynjat Phutbol at an estimated cost of Rs 2.05 crore. The programme for the same was attended by local headman S. Wahlang, community leaders and residents. Shullai later laid the foundation for the second facility at Madan Laban-Riat Laban, which is estimated to cost Rs 2.03 crore. This event was attended by Rangbah Shnong Ioster Sunn and Dorbar Shnong secretary RG Marbaniang. Construction on both projects has already begun, with a completion target of two years. Once finished, the centres will serve as community hubs for various cultural and social activities. Addressing the gatherings, Shullai expressed satisfaction with securing the funds, remarking that he prioritises action over words. He noted that unlike some leaders who make “tall claims without delivery”, he remains focused on tangible results for the people.
Woman goes missing in city
SHILLONG, March 28: A 39-year-old woman has been reported missing from her residence at Nongthymmai since March 20. According to a statement here, the missing person, identified as Eilang Phawa, was last seen around 4 pm on the aforesaid date. According to the police, she is mentally unstable. Phawa is 4.5 feet tall, with a fair complexion, round face and long black hair. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a green and white sweater, a Jainkyrshah and a pair of warm pants.
