The first-ever Mr and Miss Medic Beauty Pageant 2026 was held at the auditorium of NEIGRIHMS on Saturday, bringing together participants from the healthcare community across Northeast India.
Richa Kyndiah and Dr Khamjan Tre Chyrmang emerged as the winners of the maiden edition, which saw a total of 16 contestants take part.
In the Miss Medic category, Jessica Kharwanniang and Zeana Mary Wahlang were adjudged first and second runners-up, respectively. In the Mr Medic category, Dr Parth Singh Noarem and Dr Nishant Kumar secured the first and second runner-up positions.
The winners received a cash prize of Rs 50,000 each, while the first and second runners-up were awarded Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.
The pageant, organised by the Fashion Society Shillong (FSS) in collaboration with NEIGRIHMS and supported by the North Eastern Council, was themed around “healthcare with grace” and “beauty with purpose,” aiming to highlight the multifaceted personalities within the medical fraternity.
The competition featured multiple rounds, culminating in a final question-and-answer segment where the top five finalists from each category were shortlisted before the winners were announced by the panel of judges. Speaking on the occasion, FSS chairman Aldous Mawlong said the event received an encouraging response, with a good turnout of participants and audience, marking a promising beginning for the initiative.
Adding vibrancy to the evening were performances including a dance recital by Elyne Lyngdoh, a karate demonstration by the All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association (AMKA), and an eclectic fashion showcase by FSS models.
In his inaugural address, NEIGRIHMS Director Dr Nalin Mehta lauded the concept, stating that the event beautifully brought together the worlds of medicine and glamour, while providing a platform for healthcare professionals to express themselves beyond their clinical roles.
The panel of judges included Aldous Mawlong, Prof. (Dr) C Daniala, Head of the Radiology Department at NEIGRIHMS, and former Mrs Shillong Marjorie Noreen Dunai, who has won several prestigious titles.
The event not only showcased style and talent but also underscored the importance of confidence, communication and holistic personality development within the healthcare community, setting the stage for future editions of the Medic Beauty Pageant.
