Nurse held hostage, raped repeatedly by truck driver

GURUGRAM, March 29: A 25-year-old nurse from Punjab was allegedly held hostage and raped multiple times by a truck driver for several days in a village in Haryana’s Nuh district, police said on Sunday.The nurse alleged that the accused pressured her to convert to Islam by promising to marry her. When she refused, he threatened to kill and make her objectionable video viral on social media, they added.The victim somehow escaped on Saturday night and went to the police station, where, after registering an FIR, police arrested the accused truck driver, Zaheer (20).The victim, in her complaint said that she met Zaheer on social media about a year ago.The accused lured her into believing he was married.After this, the accused lured her to a hotel on the pretext of hosting a party, where he forcibly raped her and filmed an obscene video.He continued to blackmail her by threatening to make the video viral. He raped her multiple times and also extorted around Rs 1.5 lakh. A case has been registered. (PTI)

27 LPG cylinders stolen from tempo in Mumbai

MUMBAI, March 29: Twenty-seven LPG cylinders, including five filled ones, have been stolen from a delivery vehicle in Mumbai, prompting the police to launch a probe into the case, an official said.The theft at Charkop in Kandivali (West) comes amid gas supply concerns due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.In his complaint, delivery man Nandkumar Ramraj Soni said he had parked his tempo loaded with LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinders at Kaka Keni Chowk near his home on March 25.When Soni returned on March 26, he found the tempo door glass shattered and the rear lock broken. All 27 cooking gas cylinders, five filled and 22 empty, had been stolen from the vehicle, a police official said on Saturday quoting the FIR.Multiple teams have been formed to trace those behind the theft, the official said. “CCTV footage from the area has captured several suspects along with vehicles, and efforts are underway to identify them,” he added. 3 of family killed, two injured as car catches fire

BALAGHAT (MP), March 29: Three members of a family, including a four-year-old boy, were burnt alive, while two others were grievously injured, as their car caught fire after falling into a ditch in MP’s Balaghat.Seetram Kelkar (35) and his mother Nanabai (60) sustained severe injuries and have been admitted to a facility, while his father Nagarchi Kelkar (65), wife Savita (32), and their son Abvi (4) were charred to death.Poorvi Rahangdale (8), a neighbour’s daughter, who was travelling with the Kelkar family, escaped unhurt, The victims were locals and were returning home to Pauni in a hatchback car with Seetram at the wheel, he said.According to the police, Seetram lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a ditch. The vehicle immediately caught fire, and all occupants were trapped inside. Passersby broke the windows of the car and managed to extricate three occupants, but the flames engulfed the entire vehicle. (PTI)
