Workshop on revisiting gender

Shillong, March 31: The Department of Sociology, Sankardev College, in collaboration with the Meghalaya State Commission for Women, hosted a hybrid mode workshop on ‘Revisiting Gender: Sociological Perspectives, Lived Experiences and Social Transformation’.
During the programme, the discussion centred on the theme of Khasi matrilineality and gender-based violence.
The speakers emphasised the importance of having discussions around gender, especially in the North-Eastern states and matrilineal communities.
Faculty and students from various colleges and universities in the state participated in the workshop.
