Meghalaya Swimming Association felicitates medal winners

Shillong, March 31: In a gesture that celebrated both achievement and promise, the Meghalaya Swimming Association on Tuesday felicitated swimmers who represented the state with distinction at recent regional and national competitions.
The ceremony was held at the Crinoline Swimming Pool here, where athletes, along with their coaches and team officials, were honoured for their efforts in carrying Meghalaya’s colours to the podium.
Among those recognised were Pdiangsuklang Syngwan and Verem Gedaliah Nongsiej, both of whom returned with bronze medals from their respective events. While Pdiangsuklang secured a podium finish in the East Zone ASMITA Women Swimming League held in Guwahati, Verem clinched bronze at the inaugural Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 in Chhattisgarh. Notably, both swimmers competed in the 50m freestyle category, showcasing their speed and determination on the national stage.
The association also extended its recognition to other members of the state contingent who participated in the two meets.
Swimmers Gail Darlene Syiem, Sumarbiang Mawlong, Ilarisuk Youroi, Tvsha Jalewa and Eugenea Sumer, who competed in Guwahati, were felicitated alongside Nazareen Pariong, Em-i-rta Ksoo, Meiaipynsan L Tron, Mebankitboklang Banai, Jenifer Rymbai, Banpynshgain Syngwan and Elberz Winston Kharbani, who represented Meghalaya in Chhattisgarh.
