EKH DC prohibits dumping of waste along Old NH-40
SHILLONG, April 1: East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah has indefinitely prohibited the illegal dumping of debris, soil and domestic waste along the road shoulders of Old NH-40, specifically the stretch from Barapani to the KHADC Junction. The order has been issued following a report from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL). The corporation noted that unauthorised dumping by unknown persons had been obstructing ongoing maintenance and repair works, while also posing a risk to public safety and smooth traffic flow. The directive strictly prohibits the disposal of construction, domestic or commercial waste in the area, as well as any activity that hinders maintenance efforts. The administration warned that any violation of the order, which comes into order immediately, will result in legal action.
