Free UPSC coaching prog for EJH aspirants announced

KHLIEHRIAT, April 1: The East Jaintia Hills District Administration, in collaboration with SPM IAS Academy, Guwahati, has launched the ‘Super 10 UPSC Free Online Coaching Programme’ to support meritorious students preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examinations. The initiative provides 100% free online coaching and study materials to final-year students and graduates who are residents of East Jaintia Hills. Selection will be based on an entrance examination scheduled for April 24, with only the top-10 candidates qualifying for the benefits. The entrance test will focus on current affairs, specifically from March 2026. Candidates have been asked to refer to the SPM IAS Academy YouTube channel for preparation. Interested applicants can register by sending “Hi” via WhatsApp to 93878-61440 to receive a registration form. All submitted details will be subject to verification. The deadline for registration is April 15. The administration stated that the initiative is part of its commitment to empowering local youths and enhancing their prospects in national-level competitive examinations.

EKH DC prohibits dumping of waste along Old NH-40

SHILLONG, April 1: East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah has indefinitely prohibited the illegal dumping of debris, soil and domestic waste along the road shoulders of Old NH-40, specifically the stretch from Barapani to the KHADC Junction. The order has been issued following a report from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL). The corporation noted that unauthorised dumping by unknown persons had been obstructing ongoing maintenance and repair works, while also posing a risk to public safety and smooth traffic flow. The directive strictly prohibits the disposal of construction, domestic or commercial waste in the area, as well as any activity that hinders maintenance efforts. The administration warned that any violation of the order, which comes into order immediately, will result in legal action.
