Panel formed

The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat has constituted a House Committee for a period of one year, with effect from April 9, 2026, in accordance with Rule 194(1) read with Rule 312(1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business. According to a notification, the committee has been formed by Assembly Speaker for general information. The notification stated that Deputy Speaker Lison D. Sangma has been appointed as the chairman of the committee. Other members of the committee include Shakliar Warjri, Rupert Momin, Synshar Kupar Lyngdoh Thabah and Dr. Mehtab Chandee A. Sangma, all serving as MLAs and members of the committee. The Secretariat informed that the committee will function for a term of one year from the effective date.

Meeting

The Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh, Meghalaya Chapter, will hold its general body meeting on Saturday for the election of new office-bearers for 2026 to 2029. According to a press release, the meeting will be held at 11:00 am at the Upper Mawprem Cultural Centre, located on the ground floor of BBS College. All life members, general members and members of various Gorkha organisations from across Meghalaya, along with the general public, have been requested to attend the meeting. The organisation has urged participants to extend their cooperation and ensure the success of the meeting.
