Shillong, April 7: Royal CC held their nerve in a tense chase to defeat RangKynsai SC by three wickets in a closely fought encounter of the Late P.A. Sangma Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament 2026, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association.
Opting to field first after winning the toss, Royal CC were made to work hard as RangKynsai SC posted a competitive 144 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs.
The innings was anchored by Ajay Duhan, who crafted a steady 50 off 40 deliveries, while Sudhir Sahani provided the late push with an unbeaten 45 from just 31 balls.
Among the bowlers, Swastic Chettri stood out with figures of 3 for 34, while Sunil Lachit chipped in with two wickets, helping restrict the opposition from crossing the 150-mark.
In reply, Royal CC approached the chase with intent but were tested by regular breakthroughs. However, Raj Biswa’s composed unbeaten knock of 43 off 28 balls proved to be the difference. He found support from Rajesh Tati, who contributed 27, as Royal CC eventually reached 145 for 7 in 17.2 overs to seal a hard-fought win.
For RangKynsai SC, Ajay Duhan completed a fine all-round effort with two wickets, while Adarsh Joshi also impressed with a three-wicket haul, though their efforts fell just short. Raj Biswa was deservedly named Player of the Match for his match-winning innings.
In the other match of the day, Langsning XI CC delivered a dominant performance to outclass Lok Bhawan by 60 runs.
Batting first after Lok Bhawan elected to field, Langsning XI CC put up 139 for 7 in a reduced 15-over contest. Ibit Thabah top-scored with 34 off 24 balls, while Bamanbha Shangpliang added a useful 22, ensuring a competitive total.
Lok Bhawan’s bowlers had their moments, with Andrew Ropmay picking up three wickets for just 18 runs and Asif Khan claiming two, but the target proved challenging under pressure.
Chasing 140, Lok Bhawan faltered early and never truly recovered, eventually finishing at 79 for 9 in their 15 overs.
Krishna Chettri (22) and Ayushman Das (21) were the only notable contributors with the bat.
Langsning XI CC’s bowlers dominated proceedings, with Riboklang Hynniewta delivering a brilliant spell of 3 for 7, well supported by Enrick Suchiang, who also claimed three wickets.
Hynniewta’s impactful performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
As the tournament progresses, the matches continue to offer a blend of thrill and dominance—reminding once again that in cricket, every game writes its own story.
