NEW DELHI, April 8: The BJP on Wednesday mocked Congress leader Pawan Khera, saying he has gone from being Rahul Gandhi’s “lion” to a “scaredy-cat,” after allegedly making baseless claims against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his wife.
This followed a Congress post showing Khera at an undisclosed location, raising questions about Sarma’s alleged corruption.
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla accused Khera of creating a “dispute” using forged documents allegedly from Pakistan.
He said Khera, who once called himself Rahul’s “babbar sher,” is now hiding and avoiding police questioning. Poonawalla challenged Khera to come forward, disclose his location, and provide proof of his allegations to the Assam Police.
Khera was reportedly questioned by Assam Police at his Delhi residence on Tuesday in connection with a case filed by Sarma’s wife over claims of multiple passports and undeclared assets.
The Congress, meanwhile, defended Khera as a “strong soldier” of the party, asserting he should not be intimidated and urging Sarma to answer his questions instead of relying on police.
The developments come ahead of the Assam Assembly elections, with the 126-member state assembly going to polls on Thursday. (PTI)
