Ayush, Harshit, Devansh star in inter-school cricket victories

Shillong, April 17: A series of exciting encounters marked the Inter-School Under-18 and Under-15 cricket tournaments organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, with young talents delivering spirited performances across matches.
In the Under-18 category, RB Anupchand Secondary School edged past Madrasa LP UP School by three wickets in a closely fought contest. After winning the toss and opting to field, RB Anubchand restricted Madrasa to 87 all out in 11.5 overs. Tannu Jyrwa top-scored with 23 off 27 balls, while Asif Ali added a quick 12 off 8 deliveries. Harshit Kumar Roy impressed with the ball, conceding just eight runs in two overs while picking up two wickets.
In reply, RB Anupchand chased down the target, scoring 89/7 in 11.5 overs. Mohit led the effort with 26 off 23 balls, while Harshit Kumar Roy contributed 14 runs. Asif Ali returned with figures of 2/22 in four overs for Madrasa, but it was not enough to prevent defeat. Harshit Kumar Roy was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
In another Under-18 fixture, St Nanak Secondary School registered a commanding 64-run win over Little Angels School in a rain-curtailed match decided via the DLS method.
Batting first in the reduced five-over contest, St Nanak posted 78/2, with Ayush Kumar smashing 32 off just 14 balls. Ganesh Kumar chipped in with 12 off 9 deliveries.
Chasing a revised target of 79, Little Angels School struggled and were restricted to 14/5 in five overs. Rizwan scored 6, while Rehan Qureshi managed 3. Ayush Kumar starred with the ball as well, taking a wicket while conceding just eight runs in two overs, earning him the Player of the Match award.
In the Under-15 competition, SCA Academy secured a comfortable seven-wicket win over Holy Cross Secondary School. After electing to field, SCA Academy restricted Holy Cross to 90/8 in 20 overs, with Veerat Singh top-scoring with 33 off 30 balls. Devansh was the standout bowler, returning figures of 2/11 in four overs. SCA Academy chased down the target efficiently, reaching 92/3 in 13.4 overs. Saksham scored 26 off 24 balls, while Devansh contributed 23 off 23 deliveries, capping an impressive all-round display that earned him the Player of the Match honour.
In another Under-15 match, Nonthymmai Nepali School defeated Madrasa Hemyatul Islam LP School by seven wickets in a DLS-affected encounter.
Batting first, Madrasa Hemyatul Islam posted 123/5 in 16.2 overs, with Rehian Ali scoring a brisk 39 off 24 balls. Runu Sinha picked up two wickets for the opposition.
Chasing a revised target of 128 in a 15-over match, Nonthymmai Nepali School cruised to 130/3 in just 12 overs, thanks to unbeaten 78 off 46 balls from Raj Paswan.
Farhan Alam claimed one wicket for Madrasa, but the chase was dominated by Paswan, who was deservedly named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock and a wicket.
