Actor-producer Patralekhaa has strongly criticised paparazzi pages and social media users for making body-shaming comments about her appearance after childbirth, saying her weight gain is a natural result of pregnancy.
She and husband Rajkummar Rao recently attended the premiere of their Netflix production Toaster” after which online posts targeted her post-pregnancy look.
Responding on Instagram Stories, Patralekhaa said she had “just given birth” and was also simultaneously working on producing two films, calling both responsibilities physically and emotionally demanding. She rejected the criticism, stressing that her body had changed due to pregnancy and that such comments were unfair, insensitive, and rooted in unrealistic expectations of women after childbirth.
The couple welcomed their daughter in November 2025. Patralekhaa, known for her work in Citylights, Phule and IC 814, said that post-pregnancy physical changes are natural and not something under personal control. She emphasised that judging new mothers for these changes reflects a lack of empathy and awareness.
She urged people to be more understanding and respectful toward women after childbirth, especially in public spaces and on social media.
Concluding her message, she appealed for kindness, saying people should “learn to be a little kind,” highlighting the need to normalise postpartum changes and discourage body shaming in public discourse. (PTI)
