SSA mourns demise of Dister Marbaniang

Shillong, April 19: The Shillong Sports Association (SSA) on Sunday condoled the untimely demise of its member, Dister M. Marbaniang, terming his passing a significant loss to the sporting fraternity in Meghalaya.
A condolence meeting was held at the SSA Stadium, First Ground, Polo, under the leadership of SSA president Banteidor Lyngdoh, where members paid tribute by observing a two-minute silence.Speaking on the occasion, Lyngdoh recalled Marbaniang’s unwavering dedication and valuable contributions to the association, stating that his absence would leave a deep void within the SSA.Popularly known as “Bah Dis”, Marbaniang had suffered critical injuries in a road accident on April 11 and breathed his last on April 17 at around 11:30 PM.Following the meeting, SSA members visited his residence in Nongrah to offer their condolences to the bereaved family, remembering him as a sincere and committed individual whose efforts towards the association will be fondly cherished. As the day drew to a close, a quiet sense of loss lingered over the SSA fraternity, one that words could scarcely capture. In “Bah Dis”, the association did not just lose a member, but a pillar whose presence was woven into its everyday functioning and spirit. His journey, marked by humility, dedication and an unflinching love for sport, leaves behind memories that will endure far beyond the confines of the field.
