INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE | PBKS FIRST TEAM TO WIN THEIR OPENING SIX MATCHES IN IPL
MATCH TODAY – SUNRISERS HYDERABAD VS DELHI CAPITALS AT 7:30 PM
Hyderabad, April 20: Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani has confirmed that skipper Axar Patel is fit and available for selection ahead of their IPL clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad, even as he underlined the importance of impact over consistency in the T20 format.
“All good. He is fit to play,” Badani said on Monday, putting to rest any doubts over Axar’s availability for the crucial encounter.
Speaking ahead of the game, Badani defended his batting unit despite a few inconsistent outings, insisting that T20 cricket is defined by decisive moments rather than sustained consistency. According to him, Delhi Capitals have largely stayed true to their approach, even in defeats.
“In this format, it is about impact — about stepping up when it matters most. We believe we have done that. We have stuck to our process, and we are satisfied with the way things are progressing,” he said.
Reflecting on recent results, Badani pointed out how narrow margins have influenced outcomes, including a one-run defeat where the game could easily have swung the other way.
Apart from that, he admitted the loss against Chennai Super Kings was the only match where the team fell short.
The DC coach also threw his weight behind young batter Sameer Rizvi, highlighting his knack for delivering in crunch situations.
Rizvi has already played a couple of match-winning knocks this season, continuing his impressive run from the previous edition. (PTI)
