INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE | TILAK VARMA EQUALS JAYASURIYA’S 45-BALL MI HUNDRED RECORD

MATCH TODAY – LUCKNOW SUPER GIANTS VS RAJASTHAN ROYALS AT 7:30 PM

New Delhi, April 21: Rajasthan Royals’ young fast bowler Ashok Sharma has emerged as one of the standout discoveries of the ongoing IPL season, drawing high praise for his raw pace and growing skill set.
The 23-year-old pacer has consistently clocked speeds in excess of 145 kmph, even touching the 150 kmph mark, making him a potent force with the ball. His ability to combine sheer pace with control has caught the attention of many, including former West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, who believes the youngster has a bright future ahead.Holder highlighted Sharma’s natural speed as a rare asset, noting that such pace cannot be taught. More importantly, he pointed out that the youngster has already begun to develop key variations, including effective slower deliveries and accurate yorkers—skills that are crucial in the shortest format.According to Holder, as Sharma gains more experience and a deeper understanding of the game, he will only improve in terms of execution and decision-making. He also stressed that sustaining such pace without injury is a significant challenge, making Sharma’s current consistency even more impressive. The West Indies star expressed confidence that if the young pacer remains fit and maintains his hunger to improve, he could go on to achieve significant success in the future, identifying him as a player to watch in the long term.
Meanwhile, Holder also threw his support behind his former teammate Nicholas Pooran, who has endured a difficult start to the season with the Lucknow Super Giants. Pooran has struggled for runs, managing just modest scores in his first six innings. (Agencies)
