SHILLONG, April 22: The state government has intensified security along the Indo-Bangladesh border, deploying additional forces and enhancing vigilance in vulnerable areas to prevent infiltration.
Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday said the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued stringent instructions to border guarding forces and state governments to remain proactive. The directives call for coordinated efforts to monitor the international boundary closely, particularly across sensitive and unfenced stretches.
Tynsong added that the Border Security Force (BSF) has increased personnel in these locations to strengthen surveillance and block illegal cross-border movement.
The heightened security measures come amid ongoing concerns over the political instability in Bangladesh and the potential risk of infiltration into the state.
