Drug peddlers land in SWKH Police net

MAWKYRWAT, April 24: South West Khasi Hills Police arrested two drug peddlers on Thursday after laying a trap at Khundom, near the Umngi River Bridge.
Acting on credible information regarding the movement of narcotics from Shillong to Mawkyrwat, a team led by Inspector JPT Lakiang and SI R. Lyngdoh, along with the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), conducted a naka checking operation at the bridge.
The police intercepted one Angelbert Ryntathiang (26) of Photjaud Rangthong, who was arriving from Shillong on a scooty, and one Khrawbok Marwein (50) of Jakrem, who arrived in a vehicle from Mawkyrwat.
The duo reportedly intended to conduct a trade at the location.
During the operation, 0.60 grams of heroin were recovered from Ryntathiang’s possession.
Police also seized the two vehicles, mobile phones and other incriminating materials.
Both individuals were taken to the Mawkyrwat Police Station for further investigation.
