Two injured as truck plunges into gorge in Ri-Bhoi

NONGPOH, April 24: A container truck carrying bamboo plunged into a gorge at Iewmawlong village in Ri-Bhoi on Thursday evening, leaving the driver and his helper with serious injuries.
The accident occurred between 7 pm and 8 pm after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The duo was identified as Bikash Thakur (21) and Mohit Chauhan (25), both residents of Uttar Pradesh.
Nongpoh Police and locals rescued both Thakur and Chauhan from the wreckage.
They were initially rushed to Nongpoh Civil Hospital but were later referred to Shillong for further treatment due to the severity of their leg injuries.
