The Karnataka High Court on Saturday indicated it will pass an order after examining Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh’s affidavit and objections raised over his apology in a case seeking quashing of an FIR.
The FIR was lodged after Singh allegedly insulted ‘Chavunda Daiva’, a deity from Dakshina Kannada, during a Filmfare Awards event in Goa, where he reportedly imitated a scene from Kantara and referred to the deity as a “ghost”.
During the hearing, Justice M. Nagaprasanna observed that the actor’s conduct required admonition, which would be addressed while disposing of the case.
The court focused on Singh’s affidavit, which stated that he would visit the Chamundi Temple “in due course” as part of his apology.
The opposing counsel argued that the phrase was vague and sought a specific timeline, while Singh’s lawyer cited security concerns for not fixing dates.
The other side maintained that police protection could be provided. The court will consider all arguments before delivering its final order in the matter. (PTI)
